Formed in 2008, The Artists of Colour has become a positive voice through art forms by black artists within the Canadian Diaspora. We use our collective voice and express our history through the exhibition of our paintings, writings, sculptures and music, helping to create a true understanding of who we are. We showcase and honour our current and past artists of colour, fulfilling our vision to educate and enlighten the community.

The Artists of Colour has encouraged and showcased the works of some of Ontario's and of Michigan’s finest aspirants. We provide “hands on,” art lessons, educational workshops and guided school tours of the exhibition.  It is our goal to be a platform and a catalyst to encourage creativity and to cultivate excellence.

As a result of their outreach to students and the wider community with innovative exhibits featuring visual artists, writers, multi-media artists, sculptors and musicians.,The Artists of Colour were the honoured recipients of the 2010 WEA Grants for Arts Infrastructure in Community.

To quote WEA (Windsor Endowment for the Arts)” This group of artists has accomplished much in a short time.  Their interactive and informative show has become an anticipated annual event for the community at large. They continue to make great strides and to move forward with their mandate to share their collective voice through art.”
